The Transformation of a Hyperactive Child
By Siok Khoon

Recently, a school teacher recommended a 15-year old student to us. His name is Tan Yen Zher (Ryan). He has quite a reputation in school and has been labeled as ¡§hyperactive¡¨. He hated the label, but there was little he could do about it. He refused the doctor¡¦s medication because it made him drowsy, and neither his parents nor his school teachers could help him. So, he came to us for help. We shared with him what Ray teaches about the condition of the body, that it affects the mind more than the mind affects the body, and why he must start by caring for the body in order to change his mentality. His face brightened up and was inspired to change.

About a week later, we met him again. He said he has been eating raw vegetables and fruits for 4 days, and realized that his pimples on his chest and arms have subsided, he could also fall asleep easier, his bowel was moving amazingly better, and he felt less hyper. He was very happy about all these changes and said, ¡§Someday, I would like to go on the school stage and talk about how this way of eating has changed my life.¡¨

The opportunity came when Our Place was invited to do a food demo at his class during the school holiday camp. He learnt how to make Ray¡¦s famous sandwich and demonstrated it to the class. The class was not only amazed to hear of his story, they were all surprised to see him capable of making that sandwich. They never expected a hyperactive Ryan could complete any task! And it was amazing later, to see how his success would open the door for his fellow classmates. His new gained confidence and mentality have got them thinking, and they are now curious to find out more about how to care for the body, how to get rid of pimples, what juices to take etc¡KAnd as for Ryan, it was a big morale booster to be able to show the class what he is capable of doing.

It warms our heart at Our Place to see the incredible transformation of Ryan in just a couple of weeks, from a low self-esteemed teenager to a confident and hopeful person. His success reinforces just how important and powerful the message of Our Place is, and he has proven that Ray¡¦s teachings that ¡§the body affects the mind more than the mind affects the body¡¨, is indeed true. When he begins to care for his body, we see his mentality automatically being taken care of.

All the very best,
