Observation No. 14 (On Fasting)
By Ivy, January 14th 2007

(My observation of Fasting, the benefit of it from another point of view, other than appearances, like losing weight or healing from illnesses...)

I've always heard of the physical changes or how people recovered from their terminal illnesses after their fasts. I wonder has anybody noticed the inner changes of our mind after fasting.

I noticed that I have become more patient and humble after a fast. This improved some social communications and relationships with people. I think these are what is most lacking of nowadays in a developed and busy city life. Everytime when I cross a road, I see vehicles' drivers impatiently waiting for pedestrians to cross the last step. Time is precious to every one.
We do not want to miss out anything so we are always rushing, competing with time, trying to be the first one for every event...never will we want to slow down to appreciate the surroundings.

I often think if all of us have done fasting, it must be a changed world. It will become a better place where everyone is so humble, talk softly and patiently with each other. There will be no friction among countries, no conflicts in religions, political issue, land dispute, etc. No problems will be unsolved, won't it be a better world to live in ?! Ya, this is the world I am waiting for !
