My Path to Healing

I got to know Our Place in September 2007 through my younger sister. I was curious about how I could improve my vegetarian diet and improve my health.
I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian since 2002, and I thought I should be very healthy, since I am not eating meat. I have always wanted to include more raw vegetables in my diet, but I did not know what I should eat, how much I should eat, and how I should eat. Eversince I became a vegetarian, my complexion has turned a bit yellowish, and that was why my mom was not convinced about the benefits of vegetarian diet at all.
When I found out more information from Our Place, I began to change and improve my eating habits. I went for an iridology consultation with Siok Khoon, and brought my 2 kids along as well to jumpstart our journey. I also attended Our Place food prep classes which were conducted by Siok Khoon and her mom, Kim Huay. They cook delicious and healthy food that inspired me to cook better food for my kids.
On the way, there were obstacles for sure. Being a working mother means that I have to rely on my mom to cook dinner for us. It was a challenge to get her to change, as She does not believe in eating raw vegetables, thinking that they are too ¡§cooling¡¨ and unhygienic. And as for my father, he thought that I had joined a cult and had a face-to-face talk with Siok Khoon. After that, he was still not convinced and nagged every other day. However, small changes are better than none, I try to prepare raw food during weekends. I also prepare salad for my boy to bring to school whenever he feels like it. For myself, I skip the dinner that my mom prepares and go on juice, fruits or salad.
I survived my first ¡§healing crisis¡¨ in October 2007. My kids and I were vomiting, having diarrhea and high fever. I was quite sure that three of us ate different things, but we just cleansed at the same time. That was the first time we recovered without seeing doctor, after 3 days of watermelon juice and fruits.
My second experience was in November 2007. I was having a bad flu and cough. I did not take any medicine. I took only juice and fruits. Because I did not have the luxury of resting at home, I recovered about after 1 month of blowing nose and coughing. In the process, I witnessed how much phlegm and mucus I had suppressed by the medication I took when I had childhood asthma, cough and cold. After I recovered, I could feel the air finally going into my lungs. That feeling was great.
Then comes this year, 2 weeks before the Chinese New Year, I had a terrible stomachache. All along I used to have bad stomachache on and off, between intervals of a few months, on the right hand side of my tummy. I used to pop pills that were prescribed by the doctor and the pain would go away. This time, I refused to take the pills. I went on juices with fruits in between instead. I rested for a few days and later, I developed diarrhea. I passed out a lot of don't-know-what and felt itchiness in my anus. Towards the end of the suffering, I passed out some whitish stuff which looked like short threads. Finally, I could pass out well-formed stools, but I still feel a lot of gas in my stomach. Then, I decided to juice for 2 days every 2 weeks to clear my system.
I know the next step is to attend Our Health Week in June 08 as supervised by Ray. I signed up for both my children as well. I did 6 days on water & 3 days on juice and 1 day on raw, and it was after this fast that I began to feel much better and stable. So, since then, I have decided to eat more raw food for lunch. Now, my bowel movement is a breeze, and I don't feel as much gas in my stomach, unless I overeat. Though I am still a bit yellowish in my complexion, I can see myself improving each day.
And as for my children, my boy fasted 2 day on water & few days on juices & fruits. After his fast, I was amazed to see him eating fruits he has never liked before. He loves watermelon juice now. My 6-year-old girl fasted 2 days on water, and 1 day on juices and fruits. I noticed that her bad temperament has improved. She is becoming more reasonable and understanding. My mom is more convinced now, especially after seeing the changes in my sister who also attended Our Health Week, and she now eats less, and occasionally even prepares salads for us at dinner! My father has also accepted our changed eating habits and stopped nagging at us.
Throughout all my crisis, Ray and Siok Khoon gave me the support that I needed most. I would like to thank Ray, Siok Khoon and Siok Khoon's family for the support that they have given to me and my kids. I would not have continued this path without their full support.
