--- My Healing Experience
Hi Siok Khoon and Ray,
I・m sure that my experience is not going to be as dramatic as many that you hear, but it has certainly been wonderful for me. I am so grateful for people like yourselves who share these valuable truths with us. It really gives us the opportunity to heal ourselves without dependency on the medical system.
Before beginning my initial fast, I was overweight, had very poor digestion, had occasional diarrhea, suffered from high blood pressure, and was easily fatigued. I had frequent headaches and was dependent on aspirin and other pain relievers. Although I was already a vegetarian, my diet was a poor one, consisting mainly of cooked foods, starches, cheese and a good amount of junk food. High blood pressure was becoming a major concern since all of the men on my father・s side had died of heart disease.
I heard from a friend that Ray was giving a discussion in the Dallas area in March of 2007. I decided to attend. I couldn・t believe how logical and obvious that Ray・s description of the benefits of fasting sounded. It sounded too good to be true. I decided then and there that I would begin my own fast. It was hard to convince my friends and family that I was doing the right thing, but I persevered. I had to continue to work during the fast, but since my job is not physically demanding, it was much easier than I had anticipated. I fasted for 14 days. I felt very good, but my blood pressure was still somewhat high depending on the day that I measured it. It had been in the mid 130s to low 140s, and had gotten down into the 120s. I felt I was on the right path to correct it naturally without drugs. Another minor issue had also come up, that of a nasal drip. It had begun during the latter part of the two week fast. For quite a few days, it tasted very salty. I was amazed at this and thought that my body was really full of salt that that this is the way that it would remove much of the salt. Ray had told me that I was deficient in sodium. I had thought "how could I be deficient in sodium when I eat so much salt?" That proved to me that table salt is actually a poison and does not at all contribute to the body・s sodium; it is merely eliminated unchanged in the most expedient manner.
I began to eat again, more cautiously and carefully than before. Instead of some kind of cake or bread or vegetarian meat substitute for breakfast, I would eat a grapefruit. As Ray told me, "eat 60 to 70% raw vegetables and fruit", I began to eat more salads, without the dressing. I had lost about 15 pounds of weight after that initial fast. However, the nasal drip persisted, as did the high blood pressure readings. I did notice that my digestion was much stronger.
I did another fast of 7 days after eating for a week, then ate for another week, did another 7 day fast, and finally, after eating for a couple weeks, did a third 7 day fast. I fasted a total of 5 weeks during a 9 week period. I would have preferred to have done a longer fast, but work, family and friend pressure of "you have to eat!" prevented that from happening. Finally, my blood pressure was consistently in the low 110s, sometimes just over 100. I was able to breathe easier. My digestion was strong again. I was eating LOTS of fresh salad and my stools were solid and easily passed. I was able to bend to touch my toes easily. Although I hadn・t worked out much aside from my regular athletic interests, I did not run out of energy and was not easily winded as I was just weeks before! I was down from 175 lb. to 140 lb. (I am not a big guy, being 5・7;, so 140 was a much better weight for me). Actually, most of the weight loss came from my belly. I looked and felt so much better and I was getting so many compliments! The only downside was that I lost 4 inches of waist size and had to buy a new belt and a whole new set of pants!
Ray, I can・t thank you enough for awakening me to the fact that my body knows exactly how to heal itself. I plan to continue eating properly, fresh organic fruits and vegetables and nuts as much as possible, in the proper combinations, of course! I also plan to do periodic fasting to prevent to allow my body to continue its healing process. I hope some day that everyone will overcome their fear of fasting and that the whole world will uphold the practices of Natural Hygiene. It is truly a way to alleviate much unnecessary suffering.
Thank you,
